SUBJECT: MARIJUANA
HEATTER . . .
Day and night police and doctors fight marijuana before it is too late . . . before it gets beyond control. A man who knows just what marijuana means is here tonight. He is the nation’s leading authority on marijuana. He is former Deputy Police Commissioner of New York City, Criminologist, to the International Association of Police Chiefs. He has been responsible for the arrest of 16,000 narcotic violators -- the first man to recognize the national danger of marijuana -- Dr. Carlton Simon . . .
Dr. SIMON . . .
I come to you with a message . . . a solemn warning against the use of marijuana. Marijuana is possibly the oldest narcotic known to mankind. For hundreds of years it has been used in the Orient under the name of hash-heesh. From the name - hash-heesh - comes the English word - assassin. And that is exactly what marijuana does, it gives you a lust to murder.
The marijuana plant grows everywhere,. It is found in many parts of the United States. it grows wild, like a weed. And it can be easily cultivated.
Marijuana cigarettes -- also called “reefers”, muggles and flying cigarettes -- were first introduced into this country by workers near the Mexican border. Use of them spread from person to person, state to state. Smoking marijuana cigarettes became a secret vice, spreading like wildfire.
Dope peddlers began selling “reefers” to young people in search of a new “thrill”. They built up a market for the drug. Now thousands of these young folks have been enslaved by this evil and deadly habit.
To all marijuana addicts I say: You face incurable insanity in from 4 to 5 years. Stop - right now - before it is too late.
See your physician at once. Take him into your confidence and let him save your mind, your health and your life.
For example, a boy in Louisiana tried marijuana - just once. When he came to his senses he found he had killed, with an ax, his mother, his father, his sister and his brother. A young couple in St. Louis smoked marijuana. Under the influence of the drug, the girl shot her sweetheart. The other day a girl in New Jersey was sentenced to life imprisonment for robbing a bus driver and then murdering him. She confessed that marijuana was responsible.

Marijuana unbalances your mind . . . causes you to lose all sense of honor and morals. It give you an overwhelming desire to commit acts of violence. it makes everything seem right, no matter how wrong and horrible it may be. After the effects of the marijuana have worn off, you fall into a drugged sleep -- resembling a coma.
You may awake to find just one cigarette - a desire for a new thrill - has stamped you a criminal - a murderer.
Don’t use marijuana.
