Medical Marihuana turns Mexicans into Nazis
Vidette Messenger July 19,1940
In the past many a historian has been frustrated by the lack of readily available information regarding the Reefer Madness Campaign. Yes, there was a hysteria campaign against the use of Medical Marihuana; and yes, there were numerous newspaper headlines that help spread the hysteria. BUT what were the headlines? Which newspapers? What dates?. . . How was one to locate them?
To anyone with the soul of a historian indexes can be a Godsend. They solve many problems, answer many questions. What date did it occur? Who was involved? Where did it happen? Many a potential problem (not to mention out and out arguments) has been solved merely by opening up an index.
It was with this in mind that this index was put together. But like the museum's other indexes (for reefer madness era magazines, comic books, Radio programs etc.), it is at best only a starting point. NO attempt is made to claim that this index is, in any way, shape, or form, complete. In fact, we are hoping that the reader will help out by (a) obtaining some of the newspaper articles that we are still trying to obtain and (b) actively locating articles that we can be add to this index.
